Terrell Owens is back to calling for Jason Garrett’s head, after witnessing his Cowboys’ fall to the Los Angeles Rams yesterday. Jason Garrett, the Cowboys coach for the better part of a decade (since 2011) was understandably overpowered by a well-coached Rams team. But didn’t stop T.O. from hitting out at his former coach, for garnering a modest 2 playoff wins in 10 years of service.
The seeds for dissension were planted in 2018 when ESPN published a story which touched on Terrell Owens bitter feelings towards Tony Romo in his final season with the 2008 Cowboys. Owens had reportedly grown jealous of Romo preference of tight end Jason Witten as the primary passing option in the offense. Back then, Jason Garrett was not yet the head coach of the team, but he was the offensive coordinator responsible for mitigating the disruptive tension. In that regard, Terrell Owens would take his frustrations into retirement. T.O. He never forgot the futility of team meeting orchestrated by Garrett and the adjoint members of staff.
Terrell Owens also Tweeted that he had inkling an uprising would soon take effect within the organization. Owens later admitted that his comments towards Garrett may be partly related to bitter feelings from the past. As I mentioned before, Jason Garrett has been the Cowboys’ head coach since 2011, running his cumulative record to 79-62 in a span of 8 years. Only one year remains on the five-year extension he signed in 2014 after going 12-4 in a banner year. Cowboy fans: do you agree with Owens in his assessment?
