This weekend, a photo surfaced online of incarcerated rapper Tay-K, born Taymor McIntyre, wearing what appeared to be an anti-suicide smock while speaking on a phone from prison. Since then, Tay-K’s team has come forward to assure fans that the troubled rapper is not on suicide watch nor is he suicidal.

“Let me clear the air real quick,” penned Tay-K’s manager, Ezra Verill, in a post to his Instagram stories. “That picture is over seven months old. Tay is not suicidal. [Tay-K] did that to get out of solitary confinement he’s been in for close to two years. Crazy the extremes you have to take just to be treated humanely in a fucked situation.”

Currently, McIntyre is awaiting trial on two separate charges for murder and aggravated assault. The 18-year old is accused of the murder of 21-year o-old Ethan Walker in 2016, the case that sparked his creation of his viral track “The Race.”

Prosecutors also assert that McIntyre is responsible for the murder of 23-year-old Mark Saldiva in San Antonio. His aggravated assault charge stems from his alleged assault of a 65-year-old man in Arlington, Texas while evading arrest. All of Tay-K’s accomplices have since taken plea deals on their charges.
