The trial for Mo3’s murder has been postponed indefinitely.
Yella Beezy was supposed to go to trial on February 2, accused of paying Kewon White to kill Mo3 in 2020. On January 16, during a pretrial hearing in Dallas County Court, Beezy’s lawyers asked for more time because there is a lot of evidence.
Beezy was not at the hearing because his mother recently passed away. Judge Chika Anyiam plans to have another meeting next week to talk about how much more time is needed.
“The parties will meet next week to set a new trial date due to the issues discussed today,” the judge’s decision stated.
On January 7, Yella Beezy’s lawyer asked for a trial delay, saying the state gave them over 16 terabytes of evidence to review.
“Much of the evidence doesn’t relate to Conway,” the request stated. “This evidence isn’t important for the case outcome and hasn’t shown any new relevant facts. There are files like audit records, jail calls, and other unrelated materials. Many video files have nothing happening for long minutes. Some files are repeated or not clearly labeled.”
Yella Beezy has been free on bond since his arrest for Mo3’s murder last March. If he is found guilty, he could face life in prison.
