BaariBoy: What does being an artist mean to you and would you consider yourself a rapper?

Mr JetsonQuay: Being an artist means alot to me because I feel that music plays a big role in most people’s life. So me being an artist, I think that its important I put out music that can connect to people and just to make them vibe. At the same time I would like to be able to motivate people. Yea I would say that I am rapper but I sing I do a lil harmonizing on the track but I’m not a singer. I don’t have Chris Brown vocals to me. I really like to switch it up in my music.

BaariBoy: How long have you been doing music?

Quay: I probably been around music since I was 5 but when I thought about doing music forreal it was my sophomore year of college. That was like 2 years ago, I was up there to play basketball and I actually got hurt so I missed the whole season. So around that time all I would do is write and make songs. One night the whole team was chilling and they were like, “Quay rap!”I started freestylin and everyone on my team was like you just need to take this music seriously. I came back home after I graduated college and I just started goingto the studio. I ended getting a lil buzz and I been rappin ever since.IMG_1538[1]

BaariBoy: Who are some of your big influences on your sound?

Quay: From the music aspect of it definitely Hov, definitely influenced me to want to rap also T.I with the whole Downsouth movement Rappin right now, Drake, Kanye… Me being from the east coast, Fetty Wap and K Camp they really have been influencing my sound.

BaariBoy: How far do you want to take your music? What are some of your goals for 2016

Mr JetsonI want to take my music real far. I don’t want to be mediocre, I want to stay relevant I want to be here for  a minute I want to have a run like Lil Wayne. When Im gone I want my fans to have my music forever. I don’t want to be a one hit wonder. Some of goals of the 16, is to do shows in different states. I also want to drop 2 mixtape this year. It would be real crazy to get a feature with Fetty Wap seeing that we both from Jersey.

BaariBoy:  What projects are you working on right now?

Quay:  Right now I’m working on my first mixtape its my debut its called, “Mr Jetson”. The sound I’m not sure what to call it, Its like R&B rap. Its real wavy, you can chill to it, smoke to it you going to love the sound.

BaariBoy: How do you feel about the trap movement in music today and would you consider yourself a “trap artist”

Quay:  I definitely like the sound of trap music, I wouldn’t consider myself a trap artist though. I like lil Bibbi, Lil Uzi, Kodak all them guys. It would be cool to do a features with some of them guys if I get to that stature but I definitely love the music.

BaariBoy: If you had the option to get signed to any label you wanted to what label would it be and why?

Quay:  I would say Good Music, I think Kanye would be a good mentor not to mention he is one of my favorite rappers. Everyone on his team is real talented and those are the type of people I would want to learn from. That’s the type of label I would want to sign to.

BaariBoy:  What is your definition of success?

Quay:  Having money is being successful in a sense but there is more to life than that. I feel that being able to impact other people’s lives is success being and able to make the people around you successful and uplift them as well…. That’s real success.

I feel that being able to impact other people’s lives is success

BaariBoy:  I know this is a tad bit off topic but who did you want to win the NBA Finals? Cats or the Warriors?

Quay:  I was definitely excited to see this Finals it was a rematch. I want LeBron to win I’m tired of seeing him lose in the finals. He deserves those rings; he puts the work in every single night.
