Drake has officially moved to Texas, and his new state ID photo is getting a lot of attention from fans.
Drake’s Texas ID Goes Viral
On Monday, August 12, a photo of Drake’s Texas ID started spreading online. It’s not clear if Drake shared the photo himself on Instagram or a private account. In the picture, Drake looks straight ahead, typical for ID photos, but he slightly purses his lips, which is a signature Drake move. Fans quickly began sharing their thoughts on Instagram, especially on a post by “The Neighborhood Talk.”
Mixed Reactions from Fans
Drake’s photo, which doesn’t feature his usual “duck lips” seen in selfies, got people talking. Some fans think his move to Texas might have something to do with his ongoing rap feud with Kendrick Lamar.
One Instagram user said, “He’s selling two houses in California. I guess he moved to Texas to be closer to J Prince for safety. Nice job, Kendrick [laughing emoji] [shy emoji].”
Another user quoted Kendrick Lamar’s song “Not Like Us” to joke about Drake’s move: “He couldn’t stay in LA or Atlanta.”
More comments pointed out Drake’s Canadian roots. One user wrote, “He’s not even a citizen! Close the borders immediately.” Another said, “He wants to be from here so badly.”
Last year, Drake announced during a tour in Texas that he bought a home there. The property is a large ranch worth $15 million located in Chappell Hill, Texas. Although he spends time at the ranch, he still considers Toronto, specifically The Embassy, his main home. Drake’s new home is 45 minutes away from Houston.
