“DaBaby”

Rap Style: Cadence Driven

With the March 2019 release of “Baby on Baby”, Johnathan Lyndale Kirk PKA “DaBaby” solidified his place in music history with the Chart Topping single “SUGE” a direct relevance to controversial music mogul and “Death Row” records founder Marion “Suge” Knight. Weather intentional or not, that move along with others like going the Mixtape route and launching his music exclusively on his own YouTube channel has allowed him to become a Major Player in harnessing his career and building his brand. The video for the single “Suge”   currently has well over 142 Million Views. The single is also certified 2X Platinum by the RIAA.

Success has also come with a price. DaBaby was sentenced to one year of unsupervised probation for his involvement in a fatal shooting in Huntersville, North Carolina last November. 19-year-old Jalyn Craig was shot and killed Nov. 5 during a fight in the store. DaBaby was never charged with the killing, but he was hit with the misdemeanor charge of carrying a concealed firearm.  Following the shooting, DaBaby posted a video where he revealed that he was shopping with his 1-year-old and 5-year-old and their mother “when someone pulled a gun and ‘tried to take my life.'” He added, “Daughter could have got hit, son could have got hit (and) me. Lawyers … telling me not to say nothing … But two (people) walk down on you and your whole … family, threatening ya’ll [sic.], whip out (a gun) on ya’ll [sic.], let me see what ya’ll [sic.] going to do.” Source: Charlotte Observer

He was also involved in an altercation in May of 2019 at a Louis Vuitton store that left fellow rapper “Cam Coldheart” with a bloody nose, causing Da Baby to go viral because of the incident. Various lawsuits have also been the order of the day in the Superstars life.

Da Baby is currently signed to two companies in a joint contract, Interscope Records and South Coast Music Group respectively and has released numerous projects. Asked by DJ Vlad about turning down features, Da Baby responded: “I can’t do all that just to let some clown that I let God damn give me a couple dollas, come put some shit out when I’m going crazy” “Like WTF! Hell No!

“Lil Baby”

Rap Style: Mumble Rap

Born December 3, 1994 in Atlanta, Ga.  Dominique Jones PKA “Lil Baby” began his rap career after spending 2 years incarceration for drug possession with intent to sell. He first dropped the mixtape “Perfect Timing” with guidance from fellow Atlanta rapper “Young Thug” and others. The mixtape featured well known artists like “Lil Yachty”, and with little promotion, expanded beyond Atlanta and Georgia for that matter.
