UPDATE: (Jan. 22):
Thomas Weidenmuller’s lawyer, Paul Saso, shared a statement with AlwaysBeOG about Nicki Minaj paying a $503,000 lawsuit judgment:
“My client is glad this is over after the attack he went through. We were upset that Nicki Minaj and her husband tried to avoid taking responsibility for so long, but this shows that the law is the same for everyone, no matter how wealthy or famous. We are very happy they’ve been held accountable.”
ORIGINAL STORY (Jan. 22):
Nicki Minaj managed to stop her $20 million mansion from being sold to pay a $503,000 lawsuit.
On Thursday (Jan. 22), there was a final hearing about whether Nicki’s Hidden Hills, Calif., home would be sold to pay Thomas Weidenmüller. He got the judgment last year when Nicki didn’t respond to his 2022 lawsuit. The lawsuit said Nicki’s husband assaulted him in 2019.
After waiting many months, Nicki finally paid the debt, so her home won’t be sold. Weidenmüller’s lawyer, Paul Saso, confirmed the debt payment outside the courtroom.
“Today, we told the court that Nicki Minaj paid the judgment,” Saso said. “So, there’s no need to move forward with selling her house.”
Thomas Weidenmuller, a former security guard for Nicki, sued her and her husband, Kenneth Petty, in 2022. He said Petty attacked him after he let a fan on stage during a show in Germany in 2019. Nicki never responded to the lawsuit. She was ordered to pay $503,000 in 2024. Nicki didn’t pay, so Weidenmüller’s lawyers asked the judge to sell her house for the money. Judge Pánuco thought about it for months.
“My tentative ruling is to grant this,” Judge Pánuco said in November. “I just want to make sure we’re getting it right.”
The judge was waiting for a statement from Bank of America to see how much of the $13 million mortgage Nicki has paid since buying the home in October 2022. The mansion is now worth $20 million.
Nicki has been making moves that have puzzled some fans and upset others. In December, she appeared with Erika Kirk at AmericaFest and praised President Trump. She’s also upset many fans with her recent comments about the LGBTQ+ community.
Despite all this, Nicki plans to release a new album in March.
