Ice Spice Admits Feeling Envy Over Men’s Advantages in a “Misogynistic World”

Ice Spice Talks About Challenges for Women in Music

Ice Spice believes we live in a “misogynistic world” and she shares how hard it is for women to succeed in the entertainment industry. In an interview with Rolling Stone, she explained that women need to look very attractive to get good opportunities. She started the chat by talking about her performance of the hit song “Phat Butt” at the BET Awards.

“I used to judge other artists’ performances at award shows,” she admitted. “I would think, ‘Why did they do that? Why did she look that way?’ But when you’re up there yourself, you understand it’s a lot. There are many cameras and cues. It’s overwhelming but fun once it’s over.”

Ice Spice then talked about the differences between men and women in the music business. “In a misogynistic world, you have to be stunningly hot to get certain breaks,” she said. “As a woman, I know this is true. I sometimes envy the guys on my team because they get more sleep since they don’t need to do glam.”

After releasing her debut album Y2K last month, Spice also spoke about working with Taylor Swift, her views on Matty Healy, and other topics. Stay tuned for more updates on Ice Spice on HotNewHipHop.
