You’re never too old to bust a groove, and Arthur DuBois has proved that in his latest viral video. The 72-year-old grandfather has been making waves as his trap beats have been circulating on the internet. In an interview with Buzzfeed News, DuBois, a Chicago native, said that he first discovered trap when he was in his 60s. “They didn’t have it in my day,” he said. “I was tampering with it but I wasn’t doing too well and stuck at it.”

DuBois never really let anyone hear his beats, but he mustered up the courage to take a trip to a free studio in Chicago, Haven Studios. There, he wanted to know what the owner, 32-year-old Andre “Add-2” Daniels, thought of his music. Daniels was so impressed with DuBois’ tracks, that he pulled out his camera and had to share it with the world.

“I told him it was a studio for the youth, but I could point him in the right direction to reliable people who could help that I personally know,” Daniels said. “When I heard his music I was in complete disbelief because you wouldn’t expect him to make this style of music, to be able to do it well, and to appreciate it as music, where sometimes our elders don’t see it as music.”

“He said he gathered the courage to finally step outside of his comfort zone and ask if I could help him mix and arrange his beats,” Daniels continued. Now, due to DuBois becoming a viral sensation, the elderly producer now has interviews lined up with Rolling StoneNPR, and may have a new project in the works. Keep hustin’ because Arthur DuBois is coming for your necks!
