An Audio Interface
A microphone will not do anything for you if you do not have an audio interface. Your audio interface lets your equipment communicate with your computer. Without it, you will be unable to record audio via your mic or instruments.
Use an audio interface to replace your computer’s internal soundcard. While a computer’s sound card can record, it is not of good quality.
The thing you will notice with audio interfaces is there is a significant range in their quality depending on which you choose. There is also a great range in sizes. Some are very small, and others can get very large.
